CommitteesCommittees are one of the most important pieces of Pipeline. From organizing the annual symposium to hosting monthly seminars for issues facing graduate women in STEM (WiSTAR3), committees provide opportunities for members of Pipeline and everyone on campus to gain leadership experience, develop professional skills, and to help grow awareness. Take a look below at some of the committees that you can involved with as a member of Pipeline!
|
Symposium Planning CommitteeResponsible for planning and organizing the annual Women in STEM Research Symposium. The committee fundraises, organizes keynote speakers, panelists, as well as contacts organizations and companies across STEM fields to join in networking with this great event.
Data & Statistics CommitteeThe Data and Statistics committee is tasked to find answers to tough questions about how well women are represented in STEM fields at the University across a variety of populations (undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff, etc.) and compare those numbers with national trends. At the annual symposium, recent work by the committee is highlighted during the poster sessions.
|
Mentoring Program CommitteeThis committee organizes the three mentoring programs we have for students, postdocs, and faculty from all science, technology, engineering, and math backgrounds. The committee plans large gatherings, small get-togethers, and one-on-one meetings, matches mentors with mentees, and follows up with surveys to assess the performance of each program.

Recruitment and Engagement CommitteeMidterms and finals can put a large strain on availability and morale for many students, and members of Pipeline are no exception. Recruitment and Engagement plans fun socials throughout the semester to de-stress, while working with the other officers year round to help keep Pipeline growing and moving forward.
NEW! Coming Spring 2019: Intersectionality CommitteeThis committee will focus on examining and acknowledging the unique challenges that exist at UT for women in STEM with overlapping social identifies including race, class, gender, or ability for example. This committee plans to meet monthly and hold an event each semester that helps increase awareness and action on UT's campus. Contact us if you'd like to get involved with this new and important committee!
